Merge PDFs into one organized file
Combine invoices, reports, forms or scanned pages in one pass. Files are merged in the order shown, giving you a single document that is easier to send, archive or print.
Split and organize selected pages
Enter a page range such as 1-3, 6, 9-11 to extract only the pages you need. You can also remove unwanted pages while preserving the rest of the document.
Convert between images and PDF
Create a PDF from multiple JPG or PNG images, or export each page of a PDF as a JPG. Image exports are bundled into one ZIP download for convenience.
Finish documents with useful details
Rotate pages, add page numbers or apply a text watermark. These small finishing tools help prepare documents for sharing, review and filing.
How to add page numbers to a PDF
Page numbers make long documents navigable — reports, contracts, e-books and assignments are all easier to reference when every page is numbered. This tool stamps numbers onto each page in the position you choose, without needing any desktop software. Processing is done locally in your browser.
- Open your PDF. Select the document to number.
- Choose the position. Place numbers at the bottom centre, bottom corners or top of the page — bottom centre is the most common choice for formal documents.
- Apply and download. Save the numbered PDF. Numbers become part of the pages themselves.
Tip: if your document has a cover page, consider starting numbering after it — many writers number the cover separately or leave it unnumbered for a cleaner look.
Starting page numbers on page 2 — cover pages, roman numerals and Bates
Reports and theses often need the cover page left unnumbered. The Start at field sets the first printed number, but every page is stamped, so for a clean cover: extract page 1 with the Split PDF tool, number the remaining pages starting at 2, then merge the cover back in front. Two honest limits: numbers are printed as standard digits (1, 2, 3…) — roman numerals for front matter are not supported, and this is simple page numbering, not legal Bates numbering.
Add page numbers — frequently asked questions
Where should page numbers go?
Bottom centre works for most documents and is the standard for reports and manuscripts. Bottom outer corners suit bound documents like books, where the inner margin disappears into the binding.
Will the numbers cover my document's text?
No. Numbers are placed in the page margin area, away from the main content. If your document has almost no margins, choose a corner position to stay clear of the text.
Can I start numbering from a page other than 1?
Yes. The Start at field sets the first printed number, so you can begin at 2, 5 or any other value. Every page is stamped, though — there is no option to skip the first page. For an unnumbered cover, extract the cover with the Split PDF tool, number the rest starting at 2, and merge the two files back together.
Do the numbers stay when I print the PDF?
Yes. The numbers are stamped into the pages of the downloaded file, so they appear in print and in every PDF reader.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. Numbering runs locally in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
